We need your help to make the Haunted Hustle safe and enjoyable. If you can help with this fun, family-friendly event, please choose one of the available volunteer positions below. We will donate $8 per hour that you volunteer to Run Strong Madison or a non-profit of your choice. You will receive an official volunteer t-shirt, free snacks and drinks in the Finish Line Festival after your shift. 


  • 10K Lead Bike will lead the runners around the 10K course at 4:10 pm. The 5K Lead Bike will lead the runners around the 5K course at 4:15 pm. After the first finisher returns, you will then do one more lap to make sure all participants have finished. Must have own bike. 18 and up.

  • Set-up registration and packet pickup at Keva Sports Center. Hand out race bibs and shirts to participants. 15 years and up.

  • Help with registration and packet pickup at Keva Sports Center. Hand out race bibs and shirts to participants. Tear down packet pick up. 15 years and up.

  • Set-Up food & beverage tent, hand out medals. 15 and up.

  • Direct runners on the Pheasant Branch Trail as they pass you the first time, and then direct them up to Deming Way as they return. Must be 15 or older. You can bring a lawn chair.

  • Monitor traffic and point runners in the right direction at the intersection of Park St & Pheasant Branch Trail. Must be 18 or older. You can bring a lawn chair.

  • Make sure runners turn around on the Pheasant Branch Trail and remind them to stay to the right side of the path. Must be 18 or older. You can bring a lawn chair.

  • A team of 3 will hand out water on the Pheasant Branch Trail where it crosses under Parmenter St. Ages 15 and up, 8-14 if with a parent.


  • Lead Bike will lead kids around the Kid's Run course at 9:00 am and runners around the Half Marathon course at 9:30 am. A team of 2 will lead runners around Half Marathon course and then do a sweep of the course to find the last participant and radio in to the road crew where that participant is. Must have own bike. 18 and up.

  • Runners will cross Pheasant Branch Rd where a Police Officer will be controlling traffic. The runners will do a 3 mile loop and approach you. You will direct runners back across Pheasant Branch Rd and stop cars if needed. Must be 18 or older. You can bring a lawn chair.

  • Monitor traffic and point runners in the right direction at the intersection of Algonquin Dr & Whittlesey Rd. Must be 18 or older.

  • Direct runners on the Pheasant Branch Trail as they pass you the first time, and then direct them up to Deming Way as they return. Must be 15 or older. You can bring a lawn chair.

  • A team of 4 will hand out water on Whittlesey Rd at Algonquin Dr. Ages 15 and up, younger if with a parent.

  • A team of 3 will hand out Water, Gatorade & Swedish Fish at the Park Trail entrance to the Pheasant Branch Conservancy, at the shelter house. Ages 15 and up, younger if with a parent.

  • A team of 3 will hand out Water, Gatorade & Swedish Fish on Airport Rd just past the Hwy 12 exit. Ages 15 and up, younger if with a parent.

  • A team of 3 will hand out Water on N. Pleasant View Rd. Ages 15 and up, younger if with a parent.

  • Set-Up food & beverage tent, hand out medals. 15 and up. Must be able to stand for long periods and lift 40 Lbs

  • Take participants gear, place in bags, label and write bib # on the bag. Place bags in numerical order. 18 and up. Must work well under pressure.

  • Assist injured runners at one of the Aid Stations. Will have 2-way radio and contact with EMT's and Marathon Staff. 21 and up.

  • Assist injured or ill runners at the Finish Line Medical Tent. 21 and up.



  • List the name of the non-profit below and we will donate $8/hour to them for the hours you volunteer. Must be a non-profit. Cannot be associated with religion, politics, adult content or promotion of drugs.


The shirts are an ultra soft cotton-poly blended t-shirt in unisex sizes.

LIABILITY: I assume all risks associated with volunteering in the Rockin Brews Marathon including, but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, traffic, and the conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my service for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the Rockin Brews Marathon , Madison Events Production, LLC, the City Of Madison, the City of Monona, the County of Dane and all advertisers, sponsors, charity partners, their representatives and successors, from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver.

PUBLICITY RELEASE: I grant permission to Madison Events Production, LLC for the use of my image or likeness in any recording of this event to be used for advertising, marketing or other legal manners of promotion.
